WOMEN'S
MINISTRIES
Did
you know…
that all women of
First Presbyterian
are members of the
Women's Ministry Team?
So get ready to do
some amazing things!
Women’s Ministry

any of them with your questions.

Women at the Well Bible Study
A few women, who wanted
to get to know God more intimately, as well as each other,
originally formed this women’s Bible study group. The material
studied has ranged from a study of scripture to studying
different books and materials. However, all the studies are
firmly rooted in the teaching of Christ and God’s message to us
and are. structured so members do not have to be present at each
study to feel a part of the group.
On September 14 a new
study began. In A Busy Woman’s Guide to Prayer: Forget the
Guilt and Find the Gift, Cheri Fuller shares her secrets of
living, continual prayer that is a deep joy, not a duty or
obligation that brings more guilt. Instead of another task to be
checked off their already crowded "To-Do" list, the members hope
to discover creative ideas to weave prayer into the fabric of
each day.
This Bible study meets
from noon till 1:00pm every Thursday in the church library. Bring
your lunch and join us! Facilitators for this group are Mary Ann
Boone and Peg Wysong.

Young Women’s Bible Study
This group is meeting
on the second and fourth Tuesdays of every month at 9:00am in
the church library. A new study begins on January 12th. The
group will be reading Fresh-Brewed Life by Nicole Johnson
Join other young women
to study and encourage one another. Childcare is available.
Facilitator for this group is Kim Johnson.

Presbyterian Women
Women at Lancaster First Presbyterian
Church meet in circles locally and are connected to churches in
the Presbytery of Scioto Valley and the Synod of the Covenant
through Presbyterian Women (PW), an organization of the
Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). The PW Purpose states:
Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ,
and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we
commit ourselves:
to nurture our faith through prayer and
Bible study,
to support the mission of the church
worldwide,
to work for justice and peace, and
to build an inclusive, caring community of
women
that strengthens the Presbyterian Church
(U.S.A.)
and witnesses to the promise of God’s
kingdom.
Currently we have two PW circles:

Loyalty Circle is a fellowship of caring women who meet
regularly for prayer, Bible study, and mission work. Monthly
meetings are held September through June on the third Wednesday
at 9:30am in the Parlor. New members are always welcome.
Members share in leading this year’s Bible studying Jubilee:
Luke’s Gospel for the Poor by Dale Lindsay Morgan.
In the
nine lessons Jesus' message of jubilee is highlighted: ". . . he
has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. . . . to
proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the
blind, to let the oppressed go free . . . " (Luke 4:18).
Learn about the many ways that Christ's jubilee message turned
the world upside down, exalting the poor and including
outsiders, bringing the love of God to all.
This circle of women is also actively involved in mission
projects on the local, presbytery and global levels. One of its
current goals is to intentionally learn about the Democratic
Republic of the Congo and find ways to support mission
co-workers, Mike and Nancy Haninger. Circle Leader is Peg
Wysong.

Knit Together
organized in 2005 to combine knitting (or crocheting) and
prayer. Members create projects to minister to those who are
grieving, lonely or sick as well as others who might be
celebrating special events in their lives. While we work on
projects for specific persons we will also weave into them our
prayers. Prayer knitting is the place where these two worlds
meet – where we can begin to knit wholeness into a fractured
world.
We meet on the first
and third Mondays of each month at 7:00pm in the church library.
Come join us and find out more about this circle of knitters.
This ministry has no boundaries: you can knit or crochet, you
can be a novice or an accomplished knitter, and you are never
too young or too old to learn how to knit. Circle leader is
Martha Pool.

Purpose of the Women’s Ministry Team
The Women’s Ministry Team exists
to foster ministry by, for and to women,
and to make it visible and accessible to
every woman
who walks through our doors.
We desire to encourage authentic
relationships
and an atmosphere in which women feel safe
to be themselves
with Christ as our model.
Our goal is to provide Bible study groups
and activities for women
that offer opportunities
for spiritual growth and enrichment,
leadership, mission outreach, and
fellowship.
